November 2024 Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Please find below an update on Estate-related matters.

ANPR-based traffic control at gates

In our September 2024 Newsletter we explained the reasons for the regrettable delay in implementing the proposals for ANPR-based traffic control at the gates.

As we move forward to implement these proposals, it would be helpful to receive VRN details for the vehicles owned by owners/residents, their friends & families and their trusted tradesmen. These have already been provided by a majority of owners/residents but a significant number are still outstanding. If you have not yet provided these details (or if the details you have already provided need to be updated), please send the relevant details to verity.peatfield@owra.co.uk, copied to security@owra.co.uk.

Streetlighting

The second phase of the streetlighting project (the addition of a further 5 streetlights) is due to take place in the second week of December. We will communicate the date as soon as it has been confirmed.

Roads

The next road sweep is booked for Saturday 16 November. As usual, please could all residents make sure their cars and bins are off the roads.

The resurfacing and repair work detailed in last month’s newsletter is now complete. We do not anticipate any further road works in 2024.

Trees & Verges

In order to increase the efficiency of the fortnightly Estate road sweeps, please can we request that residents ensure  that leaves are not blown from their verge into the road for the road sweep to collect, but instead removed by yourselves or your gardeners.

Our trees supplier, Barcham Nurseries, visited the Estate last week and will recommend trees for planting in 2025.

Finance

In the final week of November you will receive notice that your annual contribution of £575 is payable by 1 January 2025. We would greatly appreciate swift payment.

Christmas Drinks

Jane, Simone & Lynsey have kindly agreed to organise yet another social event for the Estate. Christmas drinks will take place from 4pm on Sunday 15 December outside 22 Mizen Way. Please join us for a festive glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.

Supporting OWRA

The OWRA Board remains committed to continuing its initiatives for maintaining and improving the Estate. Much has been achieved in recent times, but this continues to involve a lot of work and the Board is keen to recruit further members to assist (and in due course, take over from) the existing Board members and officers.  It is healthy for there to be regular refreshing of the composition of the Board to bring new ideas and viewpoints and to “share the load”.

If you are willing to help and have the time to do so, we’d be very glad to hear from you.

Best wishes,

The OWRA Board.
