September 2024 Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Please find below an update on Estate-related matters.

Finance

Global Brokers will shortly be sending out the annual email to residents/owners regarding verifying contact names and numbers and consenting to their use exclusively for OWRA. Please respond to this email in a timely manner.

Roads

The gullies have been cleared in advance of the autumn leaf fall. The next road sweep is booked for Saturday 21 September and fortnightly thereafter until the end of the year. As usual, please could all residents make sure their cars and bins are off the roads to ensure we get the best results achievable from the sweep.

The 2024 Budget did not include provision for material expenditure on our roads. From a recent review it became clear there was opportunity to selectively plane and resurface two short stretches where the incidence of failure to the surface makes minor filling inappropriate. Jennings have been retained as before to address these areas alongside a small number of isolated potholes and two areas of buckled kerbstones. We will give good notice once timing is confirmed to help manage the disruption.

Lighting

The proposal to complete the installation of additional (solar) street lights has been submitted to Elmbridge Planning and awaits registration. Given there remains a delay there it is likely the installation of the additional units will be November, sadly. This will take the total number of illuminated sites to 29 (18 as managed by SCC with 11 solar units placed in 2024 which 'self manage').

Gates

The clean/repair and repainting at all entrances took place successfully in August as scheduled. The bigger initiative to potentially create a whole new look and feel for the Estate entrances continues to progress.

Trees & Verges

We will be undertaking tree work in Oxshott Way and Harebell Hill on 30 September and 1 October which may require those roads to be temporarily closed for safety reasons.

As we enter Autumn please can residents remind their gardeners to collect up and dispose of all leaves, including those from their verges, rather than blowing them into the roads or onto adjoining properties.

Best wishes,

The OWRA Board.
